What should a small business control first?

Small businesses rarely lack effort. The more common problem is that a manager keeps too many decisions in their head while the team does not know when to ask or what evidence to leave behind.

Choose five important flows

  • From a customer request to the right delivered outcome.
  • From a proposal to collected payment and controlled changes.
  • From purchasing to verified quality.
  • From granting access to removing it after a role change.
  • From an issue to cause correction and follow-up.

For each flow, start with four questions: who owns it, what is the output, where would failure matter most, and what minimum evidence allows a later check? Update the documents after a real operating cycle instead of trying to predict every situation.
